Serving Others

For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me.  Matthew 25:35-36

We are called to do mission and outreach as servants of the Lord.  Faith Church serves others by extending our missions into the community and to the world to help those in need.  In doing so, we express our love of God through service to His people.

Local Missions – Faith Presbyterian Church supports the following local missions:

FISH Food Pantry Battered Women Shelter
Habitat For Humanity Kirkmont Center
Community Cleanup Faith Preschool

            Project Linus

Project Linus is an organization that provides blankets to children in distress, whether due to an illness, a trauma of some sort, or a natural disaster.  The blankets are distributed through hospitals and other agencies by nurses, social workers, and others.  Over 4 million blankets have been distributed.

Every Wednesday September thru May our group meets in the adult Sunday school room to create quilts and blankets which are donated to the local chapter of Project Linus.  You don’t have to be an excellent quilter to be part of our group.  We have members with many different skill levels, and some who have no previous sewing skills.  We do have some patterns that require no sewing skills.

            Church/School Partnership

In September 2014 Faith Church has entered into a partnership with Valley Forge Elementary School.  The centerpiece of this partnership is the afternoon tutoring program.  Teacher-identified 2nd and 3rd grade students at Valley Forge School are invited to participate in the program offered every Tuesday afternoon in our parlor.  Volunteers work one-on-one with these students to help them with homework and reading skills.

In addition to the Tutoring Program, Faith Church also holds a school supply drive in July-August to collect school supplies for students-in-need at Valley Forge.

Each year, Faith Presbyterian Church “adopts” 3 families who live in Huber Heights.  Referrals come from the FISH organization and are chosen by a committee.  Families receive gifts for each member of the family, food baskets and gifts cards.
